Of blackbirds and busyness.

While feeling a bit overwhelmed with my freelance to-do list and trying to keep on top of everything recently, I stepped outside for a short break. In just a few minutes of being outside, I watched two blackbirds do a sort of dance together, unsure if they were playing or fighting, but happily watching the show from the sidelines. My neighbour Paulinho told me that they are two males competing to defend their territory, as the females watch on from the walnut tree. It made me think about how much goes on outside as we're busy being 'busy' - indoors and glued to a screen. Paulinho himself is full of the knowledge and wisdom that being outside all day brings - a life of observation, mindfulness and curiosity, in which life is dictated by the weather and the seasons and not by emails and to-do lists.
